Powell is expected to comment on the recent turmoil in the U.S. Treasury market
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, MFS Investment Management Chief Economist and Portfolio Manager Weissman stated in a report that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell may indicate in this week's meeting that the U.S. Treasury market is functioning normally after a brief period of turbulence.
Powell may also point out that liquidity tools are available if market conditions permit. Additionally, as bank reserve balances continue to decline, there may be calls to completely end quantitative tightening. However, Weissman noted that given the Fed has just slowed the pace of quantitative easing, Powell is unlikely to feel the need to take further action in this area in the near term.
