Vitalik: The security model of Ethereum Rollup should adopt a three-phase evolution strategy
ChainCatcher news, Vitalik Buterin published a blog post detailing the evolution strategy of the Ethereum Rollup security model. The model is divided into three phases: Phase 0 (complete control by the security committee), Phase 1 (requires 75% approval from security committee members to intervene), and Phase 2 (the security committee can only intervene in the event of a provable vulnerability).
Vitalik explains through mathematical modeling that, considering each security committee member has a 10% "failure" probability, the Layer 2 network should start deployment directly from Phase 1, rather than remaining in Phase 0. At the same time, he also points out that it is not advisable to jump to Phase 2 too early, suggesting that the security of the underlying proof system should be prioritized. He recommends that data providers (such as L2beat) should demonstrate the audit and maturity indicators of the proof system.
