According to ChainCatcher news from The Block, the privacy browser Brave has partnered with Unstoppable Domains to launch the ".brave" blockchain domain, becoming the first mainstream web browser to have its own on-chain domain.

The domain will be minted as an NFT on the Polygon blockchain, with no renewal fees, serving as a replacement for complex cryptocurrency wallet addresses, and supporting the hosting of decentralized websites on IPFS.

The ".brave" domain will be natively supported for resolution in Brave browser version 1.81 (expected to be released in August 2025) and plans to apply for ICANN generic top-level domain registration in 2026 to achieve full compatibility between Web2 and Web3 environments.
