Pakistan allocates 2000 megawatts of power capacity for Bitcoin mining

ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, Pakistan has allocated 2,000 megawatts of installed power capacity in the first phase of a nationwide plan to support Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence data centers. The country is currently promoting the legalization of cryptocurrency and attracting foreign investment.

The Pakistani Ministry of Finance stated in a statement that this plan, led by the Pakistan Cryptocurrency Committee, will also help monetize surplus energy and create high-tech jobs.

The Ministry of Finance mentioned that coal-fired power projects currently operating at 15% capacity, such as Sahiwal, China Hub, and Port Qasim, are expected to be repurposed for this plan.
