ChainCatcher news, Sui is undergoing a protocol upgrade to return the stolen funds recovered from hackers to the governance proposal vote of Cetus, which is expected to pass early at 4:00 AM Beijing time on May 30. Currently, the proposal has received a voting rate of 54.4%, with 54% in favor and only 0.3% against.

If this vote passes, the next version of Sui will include a protocol upgrade that will support a one-time identity verification for two special transactions. These transactions will hard-code the addresses of the two attackers, the stolen asset objects, and their destinations. It will verify the voting results, and if approved, the stolen funds from the attackers' addresses will be transferred to the Cetus multi-signature wallet, which is signed by Cetus, the Sui Foundation, and OtterSec.
