Ethereum's reserves on Layer 2 networks have plummeted, with Optimism's ETH reserves reduced by more than 50%

ChainCatcher message shows that the reserves of Ethereum on major Layer 2 networks have rapidly declined recently, with the overall ETH balance dropping by about 25% over the past few months. Among them, the ETH reserves on Optimism have plummeted by 54% since March, while Arbitrum and Base have decreased by 17% and 14%, respectively.

Analysis indicates that the main reasons are the weak prices of L2 native tokens, decreased investor interest, and some funds flowing back to the Ethereum mainnet. Meanwhile, the amount of ETH staked and the number of long-term holding addresses continue to reach new highs. The migration of funds from centralized platforms like Binance may be one of the driving factors for ETH exiting L2.
