Crypto KOL Umhum遭遇社交工程欺诈损失 50,000 美元
ChainCatcher news, encrypted KOL Hmm recently encountered social engineering fraud, resulting in a loss of $50,000.
It is reported that the fraudsters controlled the trader "Brother Y"'s WeChat account through technical means, impersonating him within the crypto investment group to initiate USDT transaction requests, exploiting the high level of trust among group members to carry out their scheme.
This fraud has three characteristics: achieving "pseudo-legitimate login" through SMS hijacking or SIM card cloning, precisely mimicking the victim's social style to implement customized scams; focusing on high-net-worth trading groups, using familiar transfer loopholes in WeChat groups to bypass cold wallet protection; choosing early morning hours when cognitive ability is weak to commit the crime, with KOLs like Liang Xi and Prophet Emperor also falling victim to similar tactics in recent months.
Hmm pointed out that such attacks are continuously escalating, with hackers enhancing deception through AI voice simulation, Deepfake, and multi-account control. Users are advised to remain vigilant regarding fund requests from acquaintances, enable WeChat device locks and SIM card locks, and use dedicated accounts for asset transactions.
