Trump plans to issue an executive order to promote the development of artificial intelligence
ChainCatcher news reports that, according to four insiders, the Trump administration is preparing a series of executive measures aimed at driving the expansion of artificial intelligence in the United States. The measures being considered include making it easier for power generation projects to connect to the grid and providing federal land for the construction of data centers needed to expand AI technology. According to data from the power industry consulting firm Grid Strategies, U.S. electricity demand is expected to grow at five times the rate predicted in 2022 between 2024 and 2029. A report from consulting firm Deloitte indicates that by 2035, the electricity demand for AI data centers could increase more than 30 times.
Insiders revealed that the government is considering prioritizing mature power generation projects in the interconnection queue. The executive order would also authorize the Department of Defense and the Department of the Interior to manage land for project construction. The government is also considering simplifying the permitting process for data centers by establishing a national Clean Water Act permit, rather than requiring companies to apply for permits state by state.
Additionally, the White House is considering designating July 23 as "AI Action Day."
