ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Roman Storm, co-founder and developer of the Tornado Cash cryptocurrency mixing service, is set to appear in court in New York on July 14, facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy.

With less than two weeks until the U.S. criminal trial, Storm stated in a video interview that his legal team intends to address the allegations that he personally profited from illegal funds through his role in Tornado Cash during the trial. However, he declined to disclose whether he would testify in his own defense, stating that there is "not a 100% answer yet" regarding the charges of money laundering, conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business, and conspiracy to violate U.S. sanctions. "I might or might not (testify)," he said.

Storm has been charged by U.S. authorities since 2023, about a year after the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned addresses associated with Tornado Cash. Government agencies have stated that the mixing service facilitated the laundering of cryptocurrency stolen by North Korean hackers.
