A man in Michigan faces up to 10 years in prison for funding a terrorist organization using cryptocurrency
ChainCatcher news, according to an official announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice, 26-year-old Jibreel Pratt from Michigan today pleaded guilty to two charges, including intending to donate cryptocurrency to the foreign terrorist organization ISIS. According to the plea agreement, in February 2023, Pratt proactively communicated with a confidential source, believing that the source could assist him in traveling abroad to join ISIS. In the following months, Pratt expressed his desire to join ISIS and recorded a video pledging allegiance. In March and May 2023, Pratt sent cryptocurrency to the confidential source, intending to use the funds to support acts of violence.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 13, 2025, and Jibreel Pratt faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
