OpenAI's open language model is about to be released

According to ChainCatcher, the American tech media The Verge reports that Microsoft's (MSFT.O) complex relationship with OpenAI is about to take a dramatic turn. Just as both parties are renegotiating their contract to allow OpenAI to restructure as a for-profit company, OpenAI is preparing to release an open language model, which may further exacerbate the rift between the two companies.

Insiders reveal that the AI lab led by Sam Altman is set to release an open-weight model next week, which will not only be available on OpenAI and Microsoft Azure servers but will also be accessible to other cloud service providers. Unlike the closed-weight model typically adopted by OpenAI, the publicly released weight parameters (a type of training parameter) will be open to the public, allowing businesses and governments to deploy the model independently.
