Expert: Stablecoins are a "quasi-currency" that lies between currency and payment tools
ChainCatcher news, Zhang Jianhua, director of the Financial Development and Regulatory Technology Research Center at Tsinghua University's Wudaokou School of Finance, stated that stablecoins are not fiat currency, but they cannot simply be regarded as payment tools. In addition to not being issued by central banks and lacking legal status, they actually possess many attributes of currency. This "quasi-currency" nature determines that the necessity and strictness of their regulation should be far higher than that of ordinary investment products.
