The U.S. Congress requests the Treasury Department to develop a custody plan for Bitcoin as a strategic reserve

ChainCatcher news, according to Bitcoin Magazine, the U.S. Congress has introduced H.R. 5166, a bill requiring the Treasury to develop a custody and management plan for Bitcoin acquired by the federal government (including strategic Bitcoin reserves).

The bill was submitted by Representative Joyce of Ohio on September 5, 2025, and pertains to the fiscal year 2026 financial services and government appropriations.
