This August, as I stood on the vast plains of the Serengeti, watching the spectacular sight of thousands of wildebeests rushing to cross the river, I was filled with awe and a subtle sense of unease. In September, we brought this reflection back to Singapore and held a private salon titled "The Jungle Rules of Africa and Investment Survival Wisdom" at Jsquare. This was not a conference, but a quiet gathering of thoughts—a group of curious souls sharing experiences and insights around risk, instinct, and the courage to move forward.

From the Wilderness to the Capital World

In the heart of Africa, the horizon stretches endlessly, and time seems to return to a primal rhythm. At that moment, I understood that true power lies not in domination, but in balance. Every life on the plains teeters on the edge of fate, and each sunrise is a test of instinct, endurance, and will. I gradually realized that this rhythm is no different from that of the capital world. The plains teach us that survival is never just about brute force. The lion is king not because it fights all the time, but because it knows when to rest and when to strike; the elephant can traverse drought and time because it remembers the paths it has taken; the giraffe sees further because it stands taller; and the wildebeest—perhaps the best symbol of courage—always leaps into the river first, knowing the risks, but also understanding that hesitation means death. In the capital markets, instinct and reason exist in a delicate tension; without the power of patience, one becomes reckless, and without action, strategy will ultimately stagnate. The investors who can truly navigate cycles are those who understand rhythm—knowing when to wait, when to act, and when to leap decisively. Joy Lou from Cycle Capital delved into the dynamics of the secondary market; Peicai Li, CEO of easy2mine, provided strategic insights on Bitcoin mining trends; and Adam Cader, managing partner of Matter Capital, presented forward-looking views on DeFi and Digital Asset Transformation (DAT), sparking in-depth discussions on emerging investment opportunities. As the event drew to a close, Tim Tse, founder of TATTOO Wine and president of Roosevelt Private Equity Management, along with Wilson Li Kai, founder of DADA WINES and partner at Lambert, offered a carefully curated wine tasting experience. Their stories about patience and craftsmanship reminded us that whether in winemaking or investing, time, intuition, and a belief in long-term value are essential.

As the event approached its conclusion, accompanied by soft conversations and images of the African plains, I felt that familiar pulse again—like the rhythm under the Serengeti sky: survival, transformation, and rebirth. Whether in the jungle or the market, the ultimate winners are never the strongest or the fastest, but those who know how to listen, adapt, and leap decisively when others hesitate.
