Vitalik Buterin posted on the X platform that the industry urgently needs a "trustless on-chain Gas futures market," similar to a "prediction market for BASE FEE," to address users' uncertain expectations regarding future transaction fee trends.

An on-chain Gas futures market can clearly understand people's expectations for future Gas fees and even hedge against future Gas prices, effectively prepaying for a specific amount of Gas over a specific period.
