According to Bloomberg, the Bank of Japan is expected to begin gradually selling its held ETF assets as early as January 2026, a move that is anticipated to last for decades to avoid impacting the market.

As of the end of September, its ETF holdings had a market value of approximately 83 trillion yen (about 534 billion USD), with a book value of about 37.1 trillion yen, following the decision on relevant disposal principles made at the September policy meeting.
