According to Bloomberg, the UK will investigate the role of cryptocurrencies as part of a broader review of the country's political financing laws, triggered by a bribery case involving a politician from the Reform Party.

On Tuesday, UK Communities Secretary Steve Reed stated in the House of Commons that the review will examine foreign funding's interference in UK politics, with a report due at the end of March. The findings will be incorporated into government plans to advance election and democracy-related legislation next year. Previously, there were concerns within the UK about the vulnerability of its democratic system to foreign donations and bribery, and this announcement of a review is based on that.

Last month, former Welsh leader of the Reform Party Nathan Gill pleaded guilty to accepting bribes while serving as a Member of the European Parliament in exchange for making pro-Russian statements and was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison.
