Report: Economic losses from Web3 security incidents in January amounted to approximately $414 million

According to the latest report from GoPlus, in January 2026, the economic losses caused by major security incidents in Web3 reached $414 million. The types of security events include smart contract vulnerabilities, social engineering attacks, phishing attacks, honeypots, rug pulls, and more.

Among these, exploits (including contract attacks, social engineering fraud, private key leaks, etc.) caused losses of $375 million due to 20 major incidents. The total losses from phishing attacks amounted to approximately $20 million, with around 5,000 victims. In the same month, 390 new honeypot tokens were detected on ETH, Base, and BSC, a decrease compared to December.
