South African Reserve Bank Governor: Stablecoins may "collapse," calling on central banks to protect currency unity
According to Bloomberg, Lesetja Kganyago, the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, warned at the 2026 Warwick Economic Summit that the increasing popularity of stablecoins poses risks, as these cryptocurrency assets could "collapse."
Kganyago emphasized that central banks need to "maintain the integrity of the currency and the public's affordability of money."
