Dutch Finance Minister Eelco Heinen stated that plans are underway to amend the controversial bill regarding the taxation of unrealized gains on cryptocurrency assets that was previously passed. The bill was approved by the Dutch House of Representatives on February 12, requiring investors to pay 36% tax on the paper gains of their cryptocurrency assets, even if they have not sold them.

In an interview with RTL Nieuws, Heinen said, "This law should not be passed as it stands; there are clearly issues that need to be revised." The bill still needs to be submitted to the Dutch Senate for review and is set to take effect no earlier than January 1, 2028. The Ministry of Finance stated that it will reassess the content of the bill and engage in discussions with Parliament to determine whether a complete rewrite or partial amendments are necessary.
