X's ban on paid promotions for cryptocurrency is not a new rule, as it has been in effect since 2024
According to the web archiving site Archive, "X's latest 'Paid Partnership Policy' has listed the cryptocurrency industry among the industries banned from promotion on X" is old news. Historical web pages show that, at least since June 27, 2024, cryptocurrency has been included in the "industries not eligible for paid partnership promotion" on the X platform.
