Paradigm investment project Succinct launches anti-AI forgery camera application ZCAM

Supported by Paradigm, Succinct Labs has released the iPhone camera app ZCAM, which generates "digital fingerprints" for photos and videos using cryptographic technology to address the forgery risks posed by AI-generated content.

ZCAM can sign images at the moment of capture, creating an immutable record and binding the content to the capturing device, allowing users to independently verify whether the material comes from a real device, whether it has been tampered with, or whether it was generated by AI. Unlike solutions that rely on AI detection, Succinct chooses to start from the hardware layer of the device, generating a unique cryptographic signature for each shot. The company states that existing AI detection tools are prone to failure, while this solution can enhance the reliability of authenticity verification. Similar projects include World, which aims to reduce risks by distinguishing between real human and AI identities.
