The CFTC is negotiating regulatory cooperation for prediction markets with several professional sports leagues
Michael Selig, the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), stated that the regulatory agency is communicating with all major professional sports leagues in the United States to strengthen the regulatory framework for sports-related prediction markets and to prevent insider trading and market manipulation risks.
Michael Selig revealed at the FINRA annual meeting in Washington that the CFTC had previously signed a memorandum of understanding for information sharing with Major League Baseball, marking its first formal data collaboration mechanism with a professional sports league.
