Gate's real stock trading is officially launched, opening up a connection between crypto assets and traditional financial markets
Gate officially launches real stock trading, allowing users to directly trade stocks and ETFs in the mainstream U.S. securities market using USDT on the platform. With the official launch of real stock trading services, Gate is further breaking the boundaries between crypto assets and traditional financial markets, accelerating the construction of a unified trading and asset allocation system covering crypto assets, stocks, and global mainstream financial products.
Unlike the widely discussed stock tokenization and RWA mapping models in the current market, Gate's newly launched stock service emphasizes real market access capabilities and a compliant trading system. Gate stocks connect directly to the mainstream U.S. securities market through compliant brokers like Alpaca, which hold U.S. Broker-Dealer licenses and clearing qualifications, providing users with real stock and ETF trading services, rather than on-chain mapped assets or tokenized derivatives. Notably, Gate's stock partner brokers are members of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), providing corresponding protection for clients' securities assets under relevant conditions, further strengthening the account asset security and investor protection system.
In terms of trading targets, compared to most tokenized stock platforms that typically support only hundreds of assets, Gate currently supports over 10,000 stocks and ETFs, covering major U.S. securities trading markets and liquidity networks such as NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS, offering users a richer and more comprehensive global securities asset allocation choice. Currently, Gate stocks support intraday trading, and in the future, it will gradually expand to 24/7 trading, providing global users with a more flexible and efficient trading experience.
Relying on a unified crypto asset account system, Gate further integrates digital asset trading with stock investment scenarios. Users can directly use USDT to participate in stock and ETF trading, achieving a more convenient connection between crypto assets and the U.S. securities market. For users who have long used stablecoins for asset management, this also means that the application scenario of USDT is extending from digital asset trading to the global stock asset allocation field.
In terms of user experience, Gate seamlessly integrates the stock trading function into the existing App system. Currently, Android users can experience the stock trading function after updating the Gate App to the latest version, and iOS users can also use the related services after updating to version 8.21.5. After completing the platform KYC certification and meeting the access requirements for their region, users can enter the stock section through the TradFi module in the Gate App to view market data and participate in stock trading after transferring stablecoins through the trading or asset pages. Users do not need to complete additional complex operations to participate more conveniently in global stock market investments, achieving efficient allocation between crypto assets and traditional financial markets.
In terms of product structure, Gate stocks operate independently from the traditional CFD (Contract for Difference) system. Users complete the buying, holding, and selling of stock assets through their Gate accounts, with funds managed separately. Unlike the funding rates in perpetual contracts and the holding costs such as swap fees and overnight fees in CFD products, Gate stock spot trading does not involve funding rates or overnight holding costs, making it more suitable for users looking to allocate U.S. stock assets long-term.
Currently, the product only supports intraday market price buying and selling, with margin trading and other functions to be gradually opened in the future. Additionally, Gate will support one-click transfer of stock assets between brokers in the future, further enhancing asset circulation efficiency and cross-platform management experience. Furthermore, users can view and manage their positions, profits and losses, fund flows, and corporate actions (such as cash dividends, stock splits, and consolidations) in one place within their accounts, with related earnings automatically credited to users' accounts according to platform rules.
From the perspective of industry development trends, crypto platforms are gradually evolving from single digital asset trading venues to comprehensive trading infrastructures connecting global capital markets. The launch of stock trading services by Gate not only further expands the platform's service boundaries and product capabilities in the traditional financial market but also marks its acceleration in building a unified trading and multi-asset allocation system covering crypto assets, stocks, and more global financial products. In the future, Gate will continue to promote more market access, global liquidity connections, and cross-market trading capability construction, reinforcing its long-term positioning as a global asset trading and market access platform.
