MoneyGram launches the USD stablecoin MGUSD on the Stellar blockchain
According to CoinDesk, MoneyGram announced the launch of the dollar stablecoin MGUSD on the Stellar blockchain, which will be integrated into its official app, allowing users to hold dollar-denominated balances in self-custody wallets and make cross-border transfers through its global network.
MGUSD is issued by Bridge, a subsidiary of Stripe, with M0 providing smart contracts and Fireblocks supplying wallet infrastructure. The product has been launched first in the United States and will subsequently be promoted globally to its approximately 60 million users and nearly 500,000 offline locations, serving as one of the core infrastructures of MoneyGram's cross-border payment network.
