Collection

The Central Bank of Brazil issued Resolution No. 580/2026, classifying companies providing virtual asset services and their leading groups as Category 3 institutions, subject to the same requirements as securities brokers, securities dealers, and foreign exchange brokers. Starting from January 1, 2027, the relevant institutions will comply with prudential requirements such as risk management rules, capital requirements, and information disclosure policies. By June 30, 2028, VASPs, regardless of size, will be included in Division 4 and will not be able to enjoy the simplified compliance regime for low-risk institutions in Division 5.
