According to the Nice Matin, the police in the Var department of France successfully cracked a cryptocurrency fraud case involving 1.5 million euros after a year-long investigation, arresting a mother and son involved in the case.

The two implemented a "Rip Deal" scam, falsely claiming to facilitate the purchase of luxury homes, luring a wealthy couple from Ramatuelle to Milan, and demanding that they pay a 1.5 million euro transaction guarantee fee in cryptocurrency. During the operation, the suspects used hidden cameras to secretly capture the victims' cryptocurrency account information and private keys, subsequently transferring all the cryptocurrency assets.

The police arrested the mother and son in Cavalaire and simultaneously seized properties worth 1.9 million euros under the suspects' names. Both suspects have multiple prior convictions for fraud and will face trial on September 1, facing several criminal charges related to organized gang fraud.
