According to CNBC, Apple announced on Wednesday that it will reach a multi-year partnership agreement with chip manufacturer Broadcom, expected to total over $30 billion. This is Apple's largest commitment to domestic manufacturing in the United States to date. Under the agreement, Broadcom will develop and supply customized ASIC chips (increasingly used for AI workloads) for multiple generations of Apple products and wireless components for cellular networks, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity until 2031.

The report noted that this collaboration is expected to facilitate the production of over 15 billion chips manufactured in the United States and includes a $1.5 billion investment to expand Broadcom's factory in Fort Collins, Colorado. Outgoing Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that this move is the largest single project in Apple's $600 billion investment plan announced in 2025, aimed at responding to the Trump administration's call to promote domestic manufacturing and help establish an end-to-end silicon supply chain in the United States.
