Japanese Finance Minister: Plans to promote the lifting of the ban on cryptocurrency ETFs in Japan

According to the Nikkei News, Japan's Minister of Finance and Financial Services, Katsuyuki Katayama, stated during the opening ceremony of the "OpenQUICK 2026" seminar hosted by the financial information service organization QUICK that, in the context of the ongoing expansion of overseas cryptocurrency ETF trading, he hopes to promote research related to lifting the ban on cryptocurrency asset ETFs in Japan.

Japan is currently advancing legislative work to incorporate cryptocurrencies into the regulatory framework of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act.
