Specter investigates BONK DAO governance attack: Realms founder suspected of having links to the attacker’s funds

2026-07-11 22:25:56

On-chain security officer Specter stated that after a preliminary investigation into the BONK DAO governance attack incident, there are noteworthy on-chain associations: the founder of Realms and Crypto Notte were both found to have on-chain fund exposure linked to suspected attacker addresses.

Specter pointed out that the attacker created a malicious governance proposal through a certain address on June 30, 2026, which required support equivalent to 1% of the circulating supply of BONK in voting rights to pass. Subsequently, between July 4 and 5, the attacker acquired the necessary voting rights through purchases on exchanges and by obtaining loans via marginfi, with the loan amounting to approximately 4 million dollars.
