According to official news, the token distribution and streaming payment protocol Sablier Labs has announced the cessation of active product development and commercial operations, entering maintenance mode from today until June 2028. The official statement indicated that due to the sluggish environment of the cryptocurrency market and the lowered technical barriers from AI-assisted programming, the on-chain token distribution sector can no longer support its venture capital-scale business model.

Sablier emphasized that its underlying smart contracts run on-chain without permission, and the company does not hold funds, so the assets, streaming payments, and token unlocks of existing users are not affected. However, regarding front-end business restrictions, the official interface will no longer accept new plans with end times later than June 2028 or indefinite payment streams from today.

At the same time, to promote the project's transition to a community-led open-source public good, Sablier has advanced the open-source date of its main EVM smart contracts from the originally planned 2029 to today, and the license has officially changed from BUSL to GPL, allowing the community to freely fork and deploy.
