Data: Over 500,000 leveraged retail accounts in South Korea may have completely liquidated
The Kobeissi Letter posted on platform X, stating that according to Goldman Sachs data, over 1.2 million leveraged retail trading accounts in South Korea triggered margin call notifications, with an estimated 320,000 to 360,000 accounts completely liquidated, accounting for about 3.4% of the adult population in South Korea.
As the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) has fallen approximately 18% since July 13, it is expected that the number of accounts that have been completely forcibly liquidated has now exceeded 500,000.
