Hashdex shuts down its Bitcoin ETF DEFI
According to the Wall Street Journal, asset management company Hashdex announced that it will close and liquidate its Hashdex Bitcoin ETF (NYSE Arca: DEFI), which had approximately $14.7 million in assets under management as of July 30.
Hashdex's products aimed at U.S. investors currently manage over $200 million in assets. It was disclosed that the last trading day for the fund's shares will be August 17, after which it will stop accepting subscription orders from authorized participants and will delist from NYSE Arca.
Shareholders who still hold shares as of the last trading day will receive a cash liquidation distribution, expected to be paid around August 28, with the distribution amount reflecting factors such as Bitcoin price fluctuations during the liquidation period. Hashdex stated that the decision to close was based on a comprehensive assessment of factors including asset management scale, trading liquidity, operating costs, and investor interest.
