Adam Back refutes BIP-110 supporters: Bitcoin does not support "garbage data," but it also cannot be censored

Blockstream CEO Adam Back criticized the arguments of BIP-110 supporters, stating that the claim "Bitcoin supports spam data" is incorrect, and that all Bitcoin participants dislike network spam data. Adam Back pointed out that Bitcoin cannot achieve absolute censorship at a mathematical level, and that the BIP-110 proposal itself has many flaws that prevent it from functioning effectively, thus it has not gained network consensus. He emphasized that forcibly pushing rule changes without consensus could ultimately lead to a fork similar to Bitcoin SV (BSV).

Previously, BIP-110 sparked community controversy for attempting to limit non-financial data storage on the Bitcoin blockchain. Supporters of the proposal planned to push for rule changes through a user-activated soft fork (UASF), but currently, miner support has not reached the activation requirement, and the market is concerned whether this controversy will further evolve into a split in Bitcoin network governance.
