Bitcoin News posted on platform X that the OCC stated that companies engaged in legally permitted activities such as digital assets and emerging technologies should have a pathway to apply to become a national bank. OCC Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan Gould stated that the regulatory agency had effectively hindered new bank applications for over a decade, but that period has now ended.

The OCC has received 40 new bank applications in the past 18 months and stated that many complete applications have decisions made within 120 days.
