Bitwise CIO: Tokens are capturing value through buyback and burn, the market has not yet repriced

2026-08-13 11:20:20

ChianCatcher news, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan tweeted that the traditional view of "tokens not capturing value" is outdated. He listed several protocols that are achieving value capture through buyback and burn mechanisms: Hyperliquid uses over 97% of transaction fees for buybacks (accumulating over $2 billion); Pump has burned 36% of its supply and locked 50% of its revenue for burns; Uniswap has burned 107 million UNI and activated the fee switch; Aave implements automatic buybacks; Aptos has a hard cap supply and burns fees that have increased tenfold; Solana is proposing to increase fee burns by 12-14 times.

Hougan believes that the market has not yet fully repriced these changes.
