The Japanese government is reportedly supporting the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates more quickly

2026-08-13 12:53:47

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi supports the Bank of Japan's recent interest rate hike, with the next action possibly in September or October. Due to concerns about the weak yen driving up prices, both sides are increasingly aligned on the necessity of raising interest rates. The Prime Minister's Office believes that specific monetary policy measures should be decided by the Bank of Japan, but both sides should work closely together to "stabilize" the achievement of the 2% inflation target.
