The U.S. SEC has officially proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, with some cryptocurrency issuances intended to be exempt from SEC registration

2026-08-19 02:50:48

Fox Business crypto reporter posted on the X platform that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially proposed Regulation Crypto Assets to establish a new framework for fundraising in U.S. crypto assets.

The proposal will allow certain issuances to accumulate no more than $5 million over four years or no more than $75 million annually without registering with the SEC; to establish a conditional safe harbor for crypto assets after the key management work of the issuer is completed; and to exempt relevant issuances from certain state securities registration requirements. The proposal is now entering a 60-day comment period.
