Data: Exchange stablecoin reserves shrink by 20%, Binance's share rises to 68.5% against the trend

2026-08-19 14:20:47

According to BeInCrypto, CryptoQuant data shows that centralized exchange stablecoin reserves have decreased from a peak of about $80 billion at the end of 2025 to about $64 billion, shrinking by about $16 billion (approximately 20%). Among them, Binance has performed relatively resiliently, with its stablecoin share rising from just over 60% to 68.5%, while platforms like Coinbase, Bybit, and OKX have seen more significant reductions.

At the same time, on-chain analysis platform Santiment has monitored a rise in pessimistic remarks such as "crypto is dead" on X and Reddit, with the crypto fear and greed index currently reported at 46, still in the fear zone. The overall total supply of stablecoins has also decreased from nearly $316 billion in May to $300.89 billion, but the decline is much lower than that on the exchange side, indicating that some liquidity may have shifted on-chain rather than completely exiting.
