The first meeting of the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee will be held on the morning of August 21
The first meeting of the U.S. CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee (IAC) will be held on August 20 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time, which is August 21 from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM Beijing Time.
The meeting is mainly divided into three parts: the first part discusses the transition of cryptocurrency regulation from "uncertainty to clarity," including the absence of federal market structure, fragmentation of state-level licenses, overlapping regulatory authorities, enforcement-style regulation, and how to improve regulatory clarity under existing statutory authorities; the second part discusses the application of AI in trading, compliance, monitoring, risk management, and "Agentic Finance," and clarifies the intersection of cryptocurrency and AI; the third part focuses on prediction markets and event contracts, discussing federal and state regulatory authorities, state-level litigation and enforcement, market manipulation, customer protection, and long-term regulatory frameworks. CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig, IAC Chairman Walt Lukken, and designated federal official Michael J. Passalacqua will deliver opening remarks.
