Gatecast dialogue with Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu: AI Agents may reshape the crypto industry, and altcoins will become the "stock market."

In the fifth episode of Gatecast, Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, shared his views on topics such as the evolution of Bitcoin's role, the future of altcoins, institutional capital, AI Agents, and the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). He believes that as Bitcoin gradually exhibits characteristics of "digital gold," altcoins may evolve into the "stock market" of the crypto market, with their value driven more by actual utility, application development, and ecological growth. He also compared Ethereum and Solana to the infrastructure layer of the early internet, pointing out that applications built on these networks may ultimately capture more value.

Yat Siu also discussed how AI Agents can become increasingly autonomous participants in the digital economy. He introduced Animoca's exploration in the field of Agentic AI, including equipping AI Agents with independent wallets, enabling them to execute transactions, manage schedules, and perform other tasks. As AI Agents gain greater autonomy, he believes the importance of digital identity will become more pronounced to help distinguish real users, authorized AI Agents, and impersonators.

Regarding RWA tokenization and the integration of AI with the crypto industry, Yat Siu pointed out that Hong Kong's financial infrastructure and its global positioning could become significant advantages. Besides real estate, he believes there are tokenization opportunities in financial products, income-generating assets, and intellectual property assets such as music and film royalties. By lowering the cost of asset distribution and investment thresholds, tokenization is expected to enable global users to participate more conveniently in a wider range of asset investments.
