SK Telecom is spinning off its AI data center business and establishing a new entity, SK Horizon, aiming to attract $2.2 billion in external funding

According to a report by the Korea Herald, South Korea's largest mobile communication operator SK Telecom announced the spin-off of its Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AIDC) business into a new independent legal entity, SK Horizon, and plans to introduce a total of 3.08 trillion won (approximately 2.2 billion USD) in external funding.

The spin-off transaction is expected to be completed on February 1, 2027, with global private equity firms KKR, as well as IMM Investment and Stonebridge Capital consortium, likely to participate in the investment.
