Coinbase: First Launch of Regulated Crypto Derivative Contracts in Canada
According to a report from the official Coinbase blog, Coinbase has officially launched regulated derivative contracts for qualified Canadian traders through its subsidiary Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), becoming the first major crypto platform to offer native crypto futures in Canada.
The products include 23 types of perpetual and fixed-term futures such as Bitcoin, ETH, SOL, as well as 5 types of commodity futures including gold/silver/oil and COIN50 index futures, supporting up to 10x leverage. All contracts are provided by CFTC-registered futures commission merchant CFM, with limited-time fees as low as 0.02% per transaction + $0.11 per contract.
Previously, Canadian investors lacked regulated crypto derivative channels and had long relied on offshore or unregulated platforms.
