Masami Kurumada, the author of Saint Seiya, is suing his former manager for embezzling funds to invest in cryptocurrency, seeking 2.89 billion yen in damages
According to Japan's Sankei Shimbun, "Saint Seiya" author Masami Kurumada has sued his former manager and their relatives and acquaintances, accusing them of misappropriating approximately 4.68 billion yen from Kurumada Productions and two other companies over a period of about six years through company account transfers and withholding copyright fees, among other methods. Some of the funds are reportedly used for investing in cryptocurrencies.
The related incident was exposed during a tax investigation by the Tokyo National Tax Agency in 2024, with approximately 1.8 billion yen already recovered. Masami Kurumada is now seeking compensation of about 2.89 billion yen from the Tokyo District Court.
