Renowned technology journalist Mark Gurman stated that Apple's first foldable iPhone Duo is expected to push foldable phones into the mainstream, and he anticipates the launch of a larger-screen iPhone Duo Max in the coming years. Gurman mentioned that Apple chose "Duo" as the product line name, and may add suffixes like "Max" and "SE" in the future.

As technology costs decrease, foldable phones may account for more than half of new phone sales in the next decade, currently making up about 2% of global smartphone shipments.
