Galaxy injected 100 million USD sUSDS into the Sky treasury and acquired SKY tokens

2026-09-23 20:01:48

According to The Block, Galaxy Digital announced that it has incorporated $100 million of the yield-bearing stablecoin sUSDS from Sky Protocol into its corporate treasury and approved it as collateral for institutional trading operations. Galaxy's lending head Max Bareiss stated that this purchase was made using the company's own balance sheet funds; as of June 30, Galaxy held nearly $2.5 billion in cash and stablecoins.

As part of the collaboration, Galaxy also acquired an undisclosed amount of SKY tokens. Clients can now borrow by pledging sUSDS through Galaxy and continue to earn Sky savings rates during the loan period. Galaxy's institutional platform serves over 1,600 counterparties, with an average loan book of $1.4 billion.

Sky stated that the supply of sUSDS reached $5.52 billion at the end of the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 149%. The two parties previously had arrangements such as $500 million in warehouse financing provided by Grove and are currently discussing expanding that limit.
