Coinbase, Visa, and three other companies became founding partners of Open Standard and received the same proportion of initial equity

2026-09-30 23:58:34

According to CoinDesk, Open Standard CEO Zach Abrams stated that the company is not an alliance where decisions are made collectively by hundreds of participants. The daily operations of the company are managed by the management team, and a smaller group of founding partners holds ownership and governance functions, while other partners are rewarded based on their contributions to driving the supply and trading activity of OUSD.

Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa have invested to become the first five founding partners, each receiving an equal proportion of initial equity. The five companies have also committed to investing over $1 billion in the coming months to establish liquidity for OUSD. The specific investment amounts and shareholding ratios of each company have not yet been disclosed.

These five companies are currently the only investors in Open Standard. Abrams expects the number of founding partners to increase to about 10 to 12 in the future and plans to establish a board composed of founding partners. Meanwhile, the number of partners planning to integrate with OUSD has increased from over 140 in June of this year to over 200, with the latest additions including SBI Holdings, UBS, and the fintech company Jeeves.
