Uranium Finance attack case opens for trial: Prosecutors accuse the defendant of exploiting contract vulnerabilities to steal over 53 million USD

2026-10-01 17:12:56

According to Law360, the cryptocurrency asset theft case involving Uranium Finance has begun trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Prosecutors allege that Maryland cybersecurity consultant Jonathan Spalletta exploited a vulnerability in the protocol's smart contract to launch an attack in 2021, during which approximately $53.3 million was transferred from 26 liquidity pools in a second attack, leading to the protocol ceasing operations. The statements related to this are allegations by the prosecution and not a conclusion of guilt.
