New York Federal Reserve: U.S. one-year inflation expectations rise to a record high of 3.9%
The New York Fed survey shows that American consumers' expectations for inflation over the next year rose to 3.9% in September, reaching a new high in over three years. The three-year inflation expectation increased from 3.2% to 3.3%, while the five-year expectation remained at 3%.
Households' expectations for price increases in gasoline, food, and other items have risen, evaluations of financial conditions and credit difficulty have worsened, but expectations for the job market have improved.
