Federal Reserve Survey: Nearly 20% of American Households Have Loan Delinquencies
The latest consumer financial survey by the Federal Reserve shows that American households are experiencing increased debt pressure, with a significant rise in loan delinquencies. The median household debt service-to-income ratio has risen to 15.4%, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to 2022. The proportion of households with a heavy debt service burden has risen to 8.6%, reaching the highest level since 2013.
